This film, entitled Twilight of the Cockroaches, masterfully combined animation and live action in a moving story that likened the cockroaches to the Japanese people, surviving the onslaught of the US invasion (the human actors). Yoshida gave Morgan a completely free hand to create the music as he felt it. For the album release, the songs were extended and featured three special guests, the renowned Japanese musicians Yas-Kaz (percussion), Hajime Mizoguchi (cello) and Cano Caori (vocals). A mostly acoustic album, this shows how Morgan could turn his hand to creating a beautifully subtle and melodic kind of modern chamber music. |
