Announcement – MINIATURES REISSUES!

Dear Friends and  music lovers,

Just a brief announcement to let you know that MINIATURES still has plenty of life in it!

It has received its FIRST VINYL REISSUE on 180gm vinyl (limited edition of 800) and can be ordered from Forced Exposure. The cover is beautifully printed and the 24″ x 24″ poster (with mini-artworks by all the artists) is also included, both better quality than the original!

RED VINYL version (limited edition of 200) is also available from Knock ‘Em Dead Records!

Clips can be listened to at both the above sites, which also include excellent – and different – descriptions of the album.

MINIATURES has also been reissued as a replica CD, in a cardboard  sleeve, just like a miniature version of the 1980 LP. It has a small version of the original poster folded inside! You may need a magnifying glass to read some of the sleeve notes, but it makes for a fascinatingly detailed musical object. At the moment this is only available in Japan, from Amazon.co.jp and Diskunion.

Imports to other countries of both the above will doubtless appear soon.

The Miniatures 1+2 double CD is always available at a very reasonable price from Cherry Red Records as well as Amazon and other good quality sellers.

Thank you!

Morgan

  1. I was thrilled to see “Miniatures I + II” 2xCD at the Mott The Hoople merch table in Cleveland 2019. After reading about “Miniatures” when it came out, I was looking to experience this almost as much as Mott The Hoople ’74! Of course the show was fantastic [“The Hoople” was my favorite of the Mott albums] but so was finally hearing “Miniatures I + II.” And I was just over at Robert Fripp’s blog where he revealed that he had just recorded his third entry for your ongoing thread of succinct music.

Dear Post-Punk Monk (I have a bit of that myself too) – thanks for your kind words re Mott and Mins! Also for letting me know about Fripp’s mention. I haven’t talked about this project yet, but have given it my blessing and a bit of a sleeve note. It’s very nice that someone else has gone to the trouble of doing this to honour the 40th anniversary of Mins 1. (I did ask Cherry Red records if they’d do a box set of Mins together with some other albums I made 1978-80 but they passed, and just gave Mins 1+2 a reissue in the same CD packaging). So I don’t have an album title or final artist list or release date, but will post it as soon as I do.
Here’s the link to Fripp’s brief mention of it in his diary:

Was chatting with a friend today over text. He’s in Cornwall, I’m in Vancouver, Canada. We grew up in a small interior town in BC. I mentioned the Miniatures album.

25 years ago, we were teenagers. Another friend recorded the album off of CBC Radio. This album was a strange and memorable part of our youth. We were constantly searching for music. Anything different. We clung to our crappy cassette copy of this album like it was pure gold.
Anyway, I ordered copies for both of us. Can’t wait to hear it again!

  1. No trackbacks yet.
