One night I decided to take some photographs; inevitably the low light conditions required very long exposures. Not having a tripod, I tried handheld shots, knowing that they would probably turn out blurred. I decided to give up trying to keep them sharp; then I tried moving the camera during the exposure to see what kind of light trails would be "painted" onto the film. I was pleased with the results, and over the years I have developed the technique and varied the light sources: lights flashing past a train at night, sunlight on water, moonlight, candles, etc. All the images are created in the camera; no computer processing is used, other than cropping and colour adjustment. I like to project these images during my solo concerts. Sometimes I get the feeling that they symbolise how we are when we leave our bodies in death or in ecstasy, and enter a higher, freer dimension.
